Welcome to the Naturopathic Pharmacist Dispensary
As a pharmacist, I often get asked what supplements to buy and why. Many supplements are expensive. However, when using high quality supplements like minerals, vitamins, herbs, you get more for your buck, and the results will prove it. In my dispensary, you have access to high quality supplements at the best price. The supplements I recommend are gluten free, dairy free, dye free, vegan.
Thoughts on Supplement Safety
- Just because something is natural doesn’t mean it’s safe – poison is natural, too! Therefore, always use supplements under the guidance of your healthcare provider.
- Supplement adverse reactions are rare, but that doesn’t mean they cannot happen to anyone – we are all unique and we respond to the same supplement in a unique way.
Guidelines on Safe Use Of Supplements
- Don’t start supplements if you’re on prescription medications without the guidance of a licensed primary-care provider, preferably the one prescribing those medications and your pharmacist. Not all pharmacists are created equal so look for holistic-minded pharmacists.
- Not all herbs, supplements, and medications go well together – ask your doctor and pharmacist.
- Always start with one supplement at the time and at a low dose and increase dose as tolerated until you reach the prescribed dose.
- More is not better: do not exceed the daily doses or length of time for use
- If you develop a rash, nausea, headache, or any other new symptom within a few days of starting a supplement, with no other explanation for the symptom, discontinue the supplement and call the prescriber.
- If no adverse reactions are observed, add the next supplement recommended for use and proceed low and slow.
- Use only reliable supplements – supplements in my dispensary are third party tested and therefore more reliable. They also have a shorter and safer list of inactive ingredients, therefore they are safer.
